About community Tilerdles
Every board on this page was made by a player. They use exactly the same engine as the daily Tilerdle: a small themed crossword, cut into 3×3 tiles, scattered around the edge of the board with some of them rotated. You put it back together by moving and turning tiles until the words read straight. What changes is the source — the theme and the words come from someone else’s head rather than ours, which is why the boards here range from gentle four-word warm-ups to dense ten-word tangles.

Where these boards come from
A creator opens the puzzle maker, types a theme and four to ten words, and watches them weave into a crossword as they go. Each word is looked up in a 255,000-entry English dictionary, and the arrangement is held to the same four rules the daily generator works under: words cross only where their letters agree, never run into one another end to end, never sit flush side by side, and all hang together in one connected shape.
When they publish, we don’t take their word for any of it. The board is rebuilt from scratch on our side from the theme and the word placements, then verified: exactly one solution, no tile sitting correct from the start, no tile that reads the same upside down. A board that fails is never listed. That is also why the tiles you see are ours rather than theirs — it is the one part of a community puzzle that can’t be taken on trust.
How playing here differs from the daily puzzle
- Nothing is at stake. Community solves never touch your streak, your average time or your archive. Play three in a row or abandon one halfway; the daily board is the only one keeping score.
- There is no clock to beat and no way to lose. As on the daily board there are no lives and no move limit — a Tilerdle waits as long as you need it to.
- Difficulty is unruly. The daily boards ramp gently from Monday to Sunday. These don’t ramp at all: sort by Newest to see what has just landed, or by Popular to find the boards other people have actually finished.
- Some boards aren’t listed. Creators can publish unlisted, which gives a board a short link but keeps it off this page — for a classroom, a group chat, or one person in particular.
Free to play, free to make
Community Tilerdles sit outside the Knotwise subscription entirely. Playing them needs no account; making them needs no account either, because a finished board packs itself into a share link that works on its own. Signing in only becomes necessary to publish here, so that each listed board carries an author beside it. If a board looks broken or out of line, the report link on its page is the fastest route to getting it looked at.

- No. Community boards are played purely for fun: they never count toward your daily streak, your solve-time averages or your archive. Only the daily Tilerdle moves those numbers.
- Are these puzzles actually solvable?
- Yes. Every board is rebuilt and verified on our side before it is published — one solution only, no tile that starts out already in place, and every word checked against a 255,000-entry dictionary. Creators also play their own board through before the share step opens.
- How do I make and publish my own Tilerdle?
- Open the puzzle maker, type a theme and four to ten words, and the board is woven as you type. Solve it once, then either hand out its share link — which needs no account, because the whole puzzle travels inside the link — or sign in and publish it here.
- What if a board is broken or offensive?
- Use the report link on that puzzle's page. Themes and words are filtered for abusive language at publish time, and reported boards are reviewed and taken down when they should be.
