Cookies
How Knotwise Games uses cookies and similar technologies, and how you can manage your preferences.
Last updated: May 7, 2026
This page explains the cookies and similar technologies we use on the Knotwise Games website, what they're for, and how you can control them. For more on how we handle personal data more broadly, see our Privacy Policy.
About Cookies
Cookies are small text files that a website saves on your device. They're widely used to make websites work, to make them work more efficiently, and to give the people who run the site useful information about how it's being used. We also use related technologies — like local storage and pixel tags — that work in similar ways.
We group the cookies we use into two categories: functional (strictly necessary for the site to work) and analytics (which help us understand how the site is used so we can improve it).
Functional Cookies
Functional cookies are essential — without them, parts of the Services simply wouldn't work. We use them for things like:
- remembering your cookie consent choice so we don't ask again on every page;
- keeping you signed in once you've logged into your account;
- saving your puzzle progress so you can pick up where you left off;
- working out which day's daily puzzle to show you; and
- protecting against common security threats such as cross-site request forgery.
Because these cookies are strictly necessary for the Services to function, they cannot be disabled through this page. You can still block them via your browser settings, but parts of the Services may stop working if you do.
Analytics Cookies
Analytics cookies help us understand how visitors find and use Knotwise Games — which puzzles people play, where they get stuck, what's working well, and what we should fix. We use a small number of trusted third-party providers, which may include:
- PostHog — product analytics and session-level usage information;
- Google Analytics — aggregate audience and traffic information;
- Vercel Analytics / Speed Insights — page-load performance and basic usage telemetry.
These cookies typically collect things like the pages you visit, how long you spend on them, the links you click, your browser and device type, and approximate location at the country or city level. We do not use them to build a profile to sell to advertisers.
You can choose whether or not to allow analytics cookies. Where required by law, analytics cookies are off by default and only set after you opt in.
Managing Your Preferences
You can change your analytics preference at any time by clicking the cookie-preferences control in our cookie banner, or by clearing the relevant cookies from your browser. Your browser also lets you block or delete cookies — see the help section of your browser for instructions. Note that blocking functional cookies will prevent some parts of the Services from working as expected.
Changes to This Page
We may update this page from time to time as we add or remove tools. When we do we'll change the "Last updated" date above. If the changes are material we'll surface them more prominently — for example, by re-prompting you for consent.
