Tilerdle Terms of Service

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your download of, access to, and use of the standalone Tilerdle mobile application for iOS and Android (the "App"), published by Knotwise Games ("Knotwise", "we", "us", or "our"). By downloading or using the App, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the App.

These Terms do not govern Tilerdle played at knotwise.games or the shared Knotwise Games app; those services are covered by the Knotwise Games Terms of Use. See our Legal Center for all product policies.

1. Store terms and the agreement

Your use of the App is also subject to the rules and terms of the store from which you obtained it. If you downloaded the App from Apple's App Store, Apple's Standard End User License Agreement applies unless Apple displays a valid custom EULA for the App. If you downloaded it from Google Play, the Google Play Terms of Service apply to your use of Google Play and purchases made through it.

These Terms supplement applicable store terms. Store terms control to the extent they are required to govern distribution, billing, refunds, or use of the store. Mandatory consumer rights in your country are not excluded or limited by these Terms.

2. Eligibility

You must be at least 13 years old, or the higher minimum age required where you live, to use the App on your own. If you are below the age of majority where you live, a parent or legal guardian must review and agree to these Terms and supervise your use of the App, including any purchase.

The App is a general-audience puzzle game and is not directed to children under 13. Do not use the App if applicable law or store rules prohibit you from doing so.

3. License

Subject to these Terms and the applicable store rules, Knotwise grants you a limited, personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, non-sublicensable, revocable license to install and use the App on devices you own or control for personal, non-commercial entertainment.

The App is licensed, not sold. Except where applicable law does not permit the restriction, you may not copy, distribute, sell, rent, sublicense, publicly perform, reverse-engineer, decompile, disassemble, modify, create derivative works from, or exploit the App, its puzzles, solutions, artwork, audio, source code, or services.

4. Device-local play and data loss

The App does not require a Knotwise account. Level progress, coins, hints, streaks, preferences, purchase-delivery records, and most other game state are stored locally on the current device. They are not designed to sync to another device or installation.

You are responsible for maintaining access to your device and store account. Clearing app data, uninstalling the App, changing devices, restoring an incompatible backup, or a device failure may permanently erase device-local progress and virtual items. Knotwise cannot restore device-only level progress or consumable coin balances from a server because the App does not maintain an account or server ledger for them. The No Ads non-consumable may be restorable when Apple or Google returns a valid current entitlement for the same store account.

5. Public profile and daily star leaderboard

Tilerdle uses a pseudonymous player identifier for its leaderboard service. The App automatically assigns a random display name that cannot be changed by players. When you earn stars from standard levels, that random display name, your selected preset avatar artwork, frame, rank, total stars, and number of completed levels may be visible to other players in that day's ranking. The App stores only the numeric ID of the preset avatar you select; it does not let players upload avatar images. The underlying pseudonymous identifier is not displayed publicly.

Daily challenge solve duration, hints used, invalid merges, and completion time are currently used for the on-device result display and local streak. They are not submitted to or shown on the leaderboard by the current version of the App.

Because display names are generated by the App rather than entered by players, players cannot publish a custom name through Tilerdle. Knotwise may remove, replace, hide, or refuse a profile or score that threatens the fairness, integrity, or safety of the leaderboard.

To report a display name or ranked entry that you believe violates these rules, email contact@knotwise.games with the displayed name, ranking date, and a short description of the issue. We may review the report and take action consistent with these Terms and applicable law.

You grant Knotwise a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to host, reproduce, format, and display the profile information and results you submit, solely to operate, secure, promote, and improve the App and its leaderboard. You retain any rights you otherwise have in information you submit.

6. Coins, No Ads, and in-app purchases

The App may offer one-time purchases through Apple's App Store or Google Play:

• Coin packs are consumable virtual items used for in-game features such as hints. Coins have no cash value, are not legal tender or property, cannot be transferred or sold, and cannot be redeemed or exchanged for money or anything outside the App.
• No Ads is a non-consumable entitlement that disables automatic interstitial ads in the App. Rewarded ads remain available when you voluntarily choose to watch one in exchange for an offered in-game benefit.

The store shows the final price, currency, taxes, and payment confirmation. The store processes payment under its own terms. A purchase is delivered only after the store reports a completed transaction. Pending, cancelled, or failed transactions do not grant an item.

Consumable coins are delivered to local storage and cannot be restored on another device or after their local record is lost. Restore Purchases is intended to restore the No Ads non-consumable for the current store account; it does not restore spent or lost coin packs. Review these limitations before buying a consumable.

Except where applicable law or store policy requires otherwise, all purchases are final. Refund requests must follow the Apple or Google Play process for the store used. If a transaction is refunded, reversed, charged back, fraudulent, or delivered in error, Knotwise may revoke the related virtual item or entitlement where technically possible.

Knotwise may change future prices, pack sizes, rewards, coin costs, or the availability of virtual items. We will not reduce a coin balance merely because a future price or economy changes, but balances may be corrected for duplicate delivery, fraud, refund, chargeback, or technical error.

7. Advertising

The App may show automatic interstitial ads at designated breaks in play and may offer rewarded ads that you choose to watch for an in-game benefit. Ad availability, creative content, and rewards can vary by platform, region, consent status, connection, and advertiser inventory. An ad or reward may be unavailable, and gameplay that does not expressly require an ad will not be conditioned on a particular advertiser being available.

Advertising and tracking choices are described in the Tilerdle Privacy Policy. Purchasing No Ads disables automatic interstitials but does not remove the option to request a rewarded ad.

8. Fair play and prohibited conduct

You agree not to:

• cheat, automate play, submit fabricated results, manipulate timers or scores, or exploit a bug to obtain an unfair leaderboard position or virtual items;
• bypass purchase verification, advertising controls, rate limits, security measures, or access restrictions;
• scrape, mass-download, copy, republish, or commercially exploit puzzles, answers, leaderboard data, artwork, audio, or other App content;
• probe, attack, disrupt, overload, or introduce malware into the App, leaderboard, content service, or another player's device;
• use the App or public profile to harass, threaten, defraud, impersonate, or violate another person's rights; or
• use the App in violation of applicable law, sanctions, export controls, or store rules.

Knotwise may invalidate a score, restrict online features, or terminate access when we reasonably believe these rules have been violated.

9. Ownership and feedback

The App and its content — including software, game systems, puzzles, solutions, artwork, animation, audio, text, logos, trademarks, and designs — are owned by Knotwise or its licensors and protected by intellectual-property law. These Terms grant only the limited license in Section 3.

You may share your own completion result or screenshot for personal, non-commercial purposes, provided that you do not disclose substantial puzzle answers or imply endorsement by Knotwise.

If you send us suggestions, ideas, bug reports, or other feedback, you grant Knotwise a perpetual, irrevocable, worldwide, royalty-free, transferable and sublicensable license to use, modify, and incorporate that feedback without compensation or attribution.

10. Updates, availability, and support

Knotwise may update, rebalance, add, remove, suspend, or discontinue App features, puzzles, rewards, online services, advertising, or virtual items. Some updates may be required for continued use. Online features depend on internet access and third-party infrastructure and may be unavailable or delayed.

We aim to keep paid functionality working as described at purchase, subject to store rules, security needs, technical limitations, and applicable law. We do not promise that any particular puzzle, leaderboard, ad, reward, price, platform version, or online feature will always remain available.

11. Third-party services

The App relies on or interacts with third parties, including Apple, Google Play, Google AdMob, and Cloudflare. Their services may be governed by separate terms and privacy policies. Knotwise does not control third-party availability, store accounts, payment systems, ad content, or external policies.

You must comply with applicable third-party terms when using those services. Links to third-party sites are provided for convenience and do not imply that Knotwise controls or endorses all content on them.

12. Disclaimers and liability

No waiver of consumer rights. Nothing in these Terms excludes warranties, remedies, or liabilities that cannot lawfully be excluded in your jurisdiction.

Disclaimer. To the maximum extent permitted by law, the App and online services are provided "as is" and "as available". Knotwise does not warrant that they will be uninterrupted, error-free, secure, compatible with every device, or free from loss of device-local data. To the extent permitted by law, we disclaim implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.

Limitation of liability. To the maximum extent permitted by law, Knotwise will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages; loss of profits, goodwill, data, progress, or virtual items; or inability to use the App. Knotwise's total aggregate liability arising out of the App or these Terms will not exceed the greater of (a) the amount you paid for the App and in-app purchases during the 12 months before the event giving rise to the claim or (b) US$50. These limitations do not apply where prohibited by law or to liability that cannot lawfully be limited.

13. Apple-specific acknowledgements

If you obtained the App through Apple's App Store, you acknowledge that these Terms are between you and Knotwise, not Apple, and Knotwise is solely responsible for the App and its content. Apple has no obligation to provide maintenance or support. To the extent any warranty applies and the App fails to conform to it, you may notify Apple, and Apple may refund the purchase price, if any, as required by its terms; to the maximum extent permitted by law, Apple has no other warranty obligation.

Knotwise, not Apple, is responsible for addressing claims relating to the App, including product-liability, legal-compliance, consumer-protection, and intellectual-property claims. Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these Terms and may enforce the applicable provisions against you once you accept them.

14. Suspension and termination

You may stop using and delete the App at any time. These Terms automatically terminate if you materially breach them. Knotwise may restrict the leaderboard or other online features if reasonably necessary to enforce these Terms, protect players, investigate fraud, comply with law, or protect service integrity.

Upon termination, your license ends and you must stop using the App. Sections concerning ownership, submitted information, purchases already made, disclaimers, liability, and other provisions that by their nature should survive will continue to apply.

15. Changes and miscellaneous terms

We may update these Terms to reflect changes to the App, providers, law, or store requirements. We will update the date above and provide additional notice where a change is material and notice is required. Your continued use after revised Terms take effect constitutes acceptance to the extent permitted by law; if you do not agree, stop using the App.

These Terms, the Tilerdle Privacy Policy, and applicable store terms are the entire agreement between you and Knotwise regarding the standalone App. If a provision is unenforceable, it will be limited or removed to the minimum extent necessary and the remaining provisions will continue. Failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver. You may not assign these Terms without our consent; Knotwise may assign them as part of a merger, financing, reorganisation, or sale of assets.
